In the Winter Olympics one woman is set to make history when she crosses the start line in the giant slalom.

Marjan Kalhor will become the first Iranian woman to take part in the games.

She says she hopes she will be able to inspire Muslim women all over the world to get involved in sport : "The next generation, and my own, are thinking about competing - not just having fun - and one of the reasons i'm so happy to be here is to be a role model for all of them."

 Australia's Great Barrier Reef is one of the greatest natural wonders of the world and is home to thousands of different species - including fish, seaweed, birds and turtles.

For a long time conservationists have been worried that this unique ecosystem is being destroyed - by overfishing and climate change. But now it looks as if rules that banned fishing in big areas of the reef - may be working.

Research shows that some fish species there have doubled in the six years since the rules were brought in. But the experts say the long-term survival of the Great Barrier Reef is not guaranteed, and think climate change still poses a big threat.

It was a big night for the movie industry - the British Bafta awards pay tribute to best films and performances of the year and they can be a good indication of who will take home an Oscar in March.

There were a few surprises - despite being the biggest box-office film of all time, Avatar missed out on the major awards.

The night's big winner was Hurt Locker - a film about the war in Iraq - it went home with six awards including Best Film and Best Director.

Twilight actress - Kirsten Stewart - also did well - she won the rising star award for her role in the hit vampire movie. It was the only award voted for by the fans - here she is accepting her prize : "Emm....thank you. I guess first I have to thank all the fans of Twilight - for proving again and again to be the most devoted and most attentive fans ever.

Kids across Europe, North America and Australia will be getting out the eggs and flour and frying up some pancakes.

 It's Pancake Day! Also known as Shrove Tuesday it is the day you pig out before fasting until Easter.

 But in Russia - it's not just limited to one day - they get a whole week of munching on pancakes - or blinis as they're known there.

They symbolise the sun as they're round, warm and golden... and because of that they help ward off cold winter weather.

The snack is served  topped with fish, mushrooms, jam, sour cream or butter.

They're a big part of the Maslenitsa Festival, which celebrates the end of winter and the arrival of spring.
