It was a big night for the movie industry - the British Bafta awards pay tribute to best films and performances of the year and they can be a good indication of who will take home an Oscar in March.

There were a few surprises - despite being the biggest box-office film of all time, Avatar missed out on the major awards.

The night's big winner was Hurt Locker - a film about the war in Iraq - it went home with six awards including Best Film and Best Director.

Twilight actress - Kirsten Stewart - also did well - she won the rising star award for her role in the hit vampire movie. It was the only award voted for by the fans - here she is accepting her prize : "Emm....thank you. I guess first I have to thank all the fans of Twilight - for proving again and again to be the most devoted and most attentive fans ever.
