Rafael Nadal wins the French Open for the ninth time

Rafael Nadal has won his ninth French Open title after beating Serbia's Novak Djokovic.

The world number one won in four sets 3-6 7-5 6-2 6-4 in a final that lasted more than three hours in hot conditions.

He's the first man ever to win a major title nine times, taking his Grand Slam total to 14.

The victory also means he will stay as world number one ahead of Djokovic, who's ranked number two.

At the start of the match it was Djokovic who started off stronger, taking the first set but he couldn't find a way to beat Nadal.

"It was an emotional day. I have tried with all my power, my strength, my capacities but Rafa was the strongest on court," Djokovic said.

"In matches like this every moment is crucial. Playing against Novak is always a big challenge, I had lost against him the last four times," Nadal said on court.

"I feel sorry for him today, he deserves to win this tournament."

Top tips for improving your memory. What are yours?

If you find it hard to remember what you have to do in the classroom, some of these simple tips might help:
  • Record what the teacher asks you to do. You could do this by making notes, or by using a voice recorder on your phone.
  • Break down long lists of things that you have to do into small steps. Do the first thing on the list, then check what the second thing is.
  • Mnemonics can help you remember tricky spellings. An example is for the word because - you can remember how it's spelt by saying the mnemonic aloud: big elephants can add up sums easily. The first letter of each word spells b-e-c-a-u-s-e. Have fun making up your own mnemonics!
  • Use rhythm to help you remember tricky spellings too. To remember the spelling of friend, think "fri - end". That way, you remember 'i' comes before 'e'.
  • Use memory aids. These might be number lines that you use in maths or cards with useful spellings that you use in literacy.
  • Finally, if you have forgotten something important, you can always ask for help.

The secret to rock-paper-scissors

Have you ever got frustrated at not winning rock-paper-scissors against your friends? Well researchers in China may have come up with a way to help...

Scientists got 360 people to play the game 300 times each and watched what happened.

They found that people don't tend to choose their next move randomly.

Instead winners tend to stick with their winning move, and losers tend to change.

So if your friend has just used a rock and won, there's a good chance that they'll do it again, so you should switch to paper to try and beat them.

Whether you call it rock-paper-scissors or scissors-paper-stone, see if you can use this trick to beat your friends!

Scientists look at the way people behave in games like this to study human behaviour in other parts of life.

It helps to predict how people might make other decisions, like in business or with money
