EDE Anglais Workshop B3 02/02/16

For the 2nd of February, the group was asked to learn their lines corresponding to the parts they were given. Unfortunately, Hanna, the actress, wasn't present because she was ill.

As a result, Mme Hue had to take care of the group that day. When the session began, we were asked to act out our parts in front of our classmates. The scenes were acted out in order to practise the first act, the second act and half of the fifth one. This went on for about an hour and a half and we had a great time. This was the first time we had practised all the scenes and it was quite successful.

Finally, during the last half hour, the whole class discussed how we were going to organize ourselves for the music, the costumes and the setting of the play. All in all, this session was very satisfying!

EDE Anglais Workshop A2 26/01/16

On January 26th, group A had a rehearsal with Joe. We started with some little games (walking in the room and making a statue...), then we made groups (the same as the last time) and we showed our frozen pictures again. We spent the whole session doing them and we adapted them to  that has make them into living images. Joe showed us how to greet the audience after the play, but we messed it up.  We have to work on it for the next course.

So, since the arrival of Joe, we have never been   bored and we have played  a lot. During the first thirty minutes, the games bring us together. After, the frozen pictures which become alive help us to be in our character’s shoes, and to play better our role. We have to know our lines for the next time, because we are going to do our part of the play. I’m sure it will be fun!

We also would like to thank Emilie who is our language assistant. Emilie is a student who comes from Tennessee.

EDE Anglais Workshop A1 12/01/16

On Tuesday January 12th our project became more concrete. Indeed, two professionals actors from Drama-ties came to help us with the play.

So, Joseph (aka Joe for group A) came on Tuesday January 12th.

Now the whole class is dedicated to theatre exercises and to the staging of the play.

First, we did some theatre exercises. Joe probably wanted to see who would have the main roles in the play. He also wanted to have a first impression about students and the class in general. He rapidly insisted on the fact that we are a group and we have to respect each other and to be quiet and serious during each rehearsal. He also decided that everybody would have a role in the play.

He decided to create groups who have to make “frozen pictures” of some scenes from the play. As the director of the play, he decided to make frozen pictures for all of the play. The frozen scenes will probably be living in the next lesson…

EDE Anglais Workshop B1 05/01/16: "How We Started Rehearsing for the Play"

First of all, we did drama exercises.
For example, we walked throughout the room and we tried to fill up all the space.

During the first day with the actress,Hanna, we tried to perform different ways of walking (heavy, light, nervous ...) and different feelings ( happiness, sadness, anger ... ) in order to train for performing.

Then, Hanna asked us to shout "hello" louder and louder as if the person we were speaking to was going further and further away.
I think it was to train to shout very loud without any hesitations and with no shame.

Then, after the training part, we will begin to perform the play.

EDE Anglais Welcome to our blog

Hello everyone,

First and foremost, let us introduce ourselves. We are students in 2nd European class. Our final project is to analyse and perform a play written by Shakespeare. This play is called “A Midsummer Night's Dream”.

It is a fantastic comedy adapted for us. We have two hours of drama once every two weeks. At the beginning, we studied the play. Since the end the Christmas holidays, two Anglophone actors have been helping us with the play.

Before the Christmas holidays, we studied Drama in general and also the play.  In the second part of the class, we used to do some theatre exercises with our English teacher in order to make sure that everybody would be ready to the arrival of the actors.

Voici un poème de quelques élèves de la classe de 1ES2

Once upon a time..
