A DAY ASSOCIATED TO WOMEN BY JUSTINE MOLONGO-ARMOUDON 2ND 8

Last week the 8th of  March was  the women’s Rights Day that consists in  sharing many information about the
daily routine of women thanks to testimonies written anonymously, posters in the corridor of our high school
and the quiz at the end of the exhibition. We also discovered a device like a scale of
violence and the stats of women in sport, some jobs and politics. Moreover, we can
give our opinions during thatday. For example, in the quiz, I  learnt that
only one woman has been awarded as the Best Director Oscar since 2010. I think such event is
useful at school because the only means to understand the issue is to include it in
education, to show the daily problems of women and the youngest in particular. Maybe thanks to
this event in the high school  the problems will be over.

BETTER LIFE BY BEYZA TUYSUZ 2NDE 8

As we know  last week it was the international women’s day.
For better understanding this day  last Tuesday I asked many questions about this important date. In a moment of the day one of the girls who answered my questions showed me
a paper ruler « scale of violence » so she explained the importance
of this object: it’s a paper where we can measure the level of violent and toxic relationships.  I
find this device very helpful and useful for women.
The international women’s day is a day where many women focus on freedom, gender
equality and  respect.
Acording to me the part that made me shocked was the testimonies  of the
girls who suffered a street harassement and there are one that made me sad because
the victim was just 13 years old and her assaulter was her own
uncle.
In my opinion such event is useful to organize at school because it can help us to
understand  women and maybe stop many potential assaulters or inform girls and women about potential dangers . To conclude women deserve a better life.

SOME INFORMATION ABOUT WOMEN BY SINAN ZIGHA 2ND 8

Last week, it was the women’s rights day and I discovered many information about
women’s rights. For example, do you know that there is a scale violence to measure the level of physical and psychological violence which starts from 1 to 24. There are also testimonies about girls who have already been visctim of terrible experiences.

I was really shocked when I discovered these testimonies because these experiences suffered by
some young girls are terrible, not human. And I think that such event is useful at
school because we must sensitize young people about Human rights icluding women's rights.

DISCOVERING WOMEN'S RIGHTS DAY IN SCHOOL BY ZAHID TARIQ 2ND 8

The 8th of  March there was an event organised at school:  the international women's day, a day of
peace and respect about the women's rights. during this event, I learnt a lot of facts
about this issue (the harassement of women and t rape..) For example, who can say
the street harassement suffered by the women is of 25% or the stats of the women
who have already been harrassed is of 95%. I also read the testimonies of
girls, my classmates, who have been sexually harrassed or abused and it was very frightening. Finally, the
statistic that can shock people  most is the rate of women who have received some
form of sexual harassment, which is of 86%.

'GOOD IN THEORY, WORSE IN EXECUTION' BY DREAM 2NDE 8

During the 8th of march, students prepared stands to inform others about various types
of violences that women experience on a daily basis, but also put up informations
about their rights and various famous women from different periods of history.
The stands were up for the whole day with students responsible of them answering
questions and such, but there was also a part that you could contribute to which
consisted of a wall with notes from students with the prompt "What 8th March should
be like".
The last thing was a testimonies wall with various stories from anonymous students
from the whole school about various acts of violence they have experienced.
It was a good idea to raise awareness but there was little to no information that
students in the age range from 15 to 18 didn't know already; personally i didn't learn
anything new about different types of violences or about woman's rights during this
event. The information was often vague and same things were repeated quite often.
It is important to have events like these in school though, as to not stay ignorant to
different issues that are happening right now. But most high schools students weren't
interested much in what was put up for the occasion. They showed little to no interest,
showing that stands with flyers wasn't a good approach to an event like this and didn't
attract much attention.
Its always important to raise awareness to these topics but a school can be a hard
target audience and often students ignore these types of events as they are too
occupied with other things and rarely pay attention.

WOMEN'S RIGHTS BY ERDEM KILIC 2NDE 8

During the international women's day organized by students from our high school. I
discovered that there are many people who support this cause. There are many tools
like the violence scale that can help many people with some useful phone numbers on
the back that you can call for help . We also read anonymous testimonies  of girls that
experienced horrible things like dangerous men following them in the streets. Those testimonies were
very choking to read because it dealt with many classmates from our high school.
I think that this type of event are very important in many places like schools because we learn
things from other students like us and we can also learn by doing some games and
quiz with our class.

INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'S DAY IN SCHOOL BY MALEK DAB 2ND 8

Yesterday (March 8, 2022), during the small event organized by the high school on the
issue of the international day of women'srights, I discovered several new
things like for example much more women than I thought were oppressed by some men in
their daily life.  In this event there were several small workshops as for example
the one that I liked most: the panel where we could write a small sentence to
say our version of an ideal day of March 8 and we had to hangit. There were also
other workshops like the one where we made a quiz with all the classmates etc. I think this
event is useful at school because that informs the people about this issue if they didn’t
know about it and it’s rather entertaining.

WOMEN’S RIGHTS DAY IN R. ROLLAND BY FOXYZ 2ND 8

Tuesday, March 8 was Women's Right Day in the high school of Romain Rolland. The club of girls and boys’ equality made many stands and a lot of exhibitions in the high school to celebrate this event. I discovered in “the books stand” a lot of books I hadn’t seen in the library, although I am there from Monday to Friday! I learned many things about the women’s rights in a quiz we made like:

  • When did women get the right to vote?” In 1944;

  • Who published the Declaration of the Rights of Women and Citizens in 1791 ?” Olympes de Gouges;

  • What does the Simone Veil law authorized from 1975?” Voluntary Termination of Pregnancy (VTP).

  • When was rape defined and recognized as a crime?” December 13th, 1980.

It’s the sexuality stand that was the most amazing to me, because I met other bi-people; like me. I have learned many things about all kinds of sexuality and it was really very instructive.

I think this kind of event should be celebrated more in schools, to reach most of the people, because it is in mentalities that behaviors and ideas begin. School can help change a lot of things, especially people’s ideas about some taboos, like gender equality.

THE INTERNATIONAL WOMEN'DAY BY SHERINE ANDONIRADJOU 2ND 8

The International Women’s day is celebrated every year on March 8th . The day has been
observed as a national holiday in most of the countries. Women across the nations come
together crossing all the boundaries from various cultural and ethnic  groups to
remember their struggle for peace, justice, equality and development
Thanks to the stands in my high school, I discovered the fact that you speak about yourself , that you can
watch in everyday life for the people' s emotions on their faces. It is an opportunity to tell the Truth !
The part, that surprised me , is about the scale of violence against women around the
world .
I think this event is very useful at school for the people who didn’t know the truth about
women’s day and their daily life .
