Barefoot in Kenya

Kenya : Getting to School by Foot.

With few cars, no school bus and often muddy paths, there are few options but to walk or run to school in the Mount Elgon region in Kenya. Some pupils travel up to 15km per day without shoes.

Voici les phrases de commentaire vues en classe j’ai ajouté une phrase d’introduction car il faut dans un premier temps définir le type de document présenté. Si vous êtes hésitants l’examinateur vous posera des questions il s’agit de s’exprimer en anglais avec des phrases simples :

  • We watched a video from the British Council Website. The British Council is a British organization located all over the world and its mission is to teach English to foreign people.
  • The theme of the video is going to school barefoot.
  • The kids in the video are running barefoot to school.
  • The scene takes place in Kenya.
  • Kenya is located in South East Africa.
  • They are not wearing shoes.
  • The uniform is compulsory but shoes are not compulsory for younger kids.
  • The roads are terrible.
  • After the rain it’s very muddy. It can be dangerous.
  • Some of the children in the film walk and run up to 15km to school every day barefoot.
  • They are very courageous.
  • Some great runners come from Kenya and now we can understand the reason why. We see them during the Olympic Games or important championships.
  • We also watched a French document entitled : « Sur les chemins de l’école ».

 

  • At the end of the Kenyan children talk about their ambitions.

Cette dernière phrase vous permettra d’échanger avec l’examinateur sur vos ambitions, vos souhaits il est fort possible qu’il vous demande : “What would you like to do in the future?”
