Organising an escape game

In the beginning of September we started to work on the Escape game. The teachers told us that we should did create two challenges on three because Sydney's students were working on the third challenge. The main theme was water and we decided to take  th Legends/mythology of the Loch Ness, the Titicaca lake and Odysseus which was imagined by the Australian students.

- The Odysseus challenge

Imagined by the Sydneysiders. The Sartrouvillois were communicating with them and it's only the week before, at the High school Evariste Galois, that we created the challenge with their instructions. It's the week before the escape game played that we assemble together the orders. The six steps (crossword puzzle, riddle, translation greek-english .We have met the difficulties to create the enigma where someone must be tied and put a pencil in his mouth (a strange instruction!). We have changed this part, the player must just be tied and put ear plugs.

- The Titicaca lake

When we started to create the Titicaca challenge we thought about the plot of the story, we finally chose to hide some parchments to tell about the original legends of the Titicaca's lake to our guests. The first parchment was on a little library, the second behind a picture of a puma and the third in a glass box.
In the beginning we had chosen to hide one of the parchments in a chest and hide a key in a fresco. But our group decided to change those things because the fresco represented too much work and the part with the chest was too difficult for our guests.

In the beginning we were slow and stuck because we didn't have any idea of what we should have done, but finally we made all of the details in the last hours, it was like a run and it was very funny.

The walk along the Seine

The thursday, 11th of October, we went to Paris, to go for a walk along the Seine.

This project was set up by a few students and teachers of the high school Evariste Galois. We worked on Wednesday afternoons as volunteers to create this project. Each student had a monument or a topic on the Seine to talk about. We prepared our text in English on the computers, then we learnt it.

We took the train at 8:30 am to go to Paris. We were 46 students and teachers. When we arrived, we first visited the "Pavillon de l'eau" which is a place of information and sensitization of the public about water in Paris, there were also paintings and sculptures on the theme of water. Then we started our walk along the Seine at 10:30 am. Each Evariste Galois student talked in English to the Italian, Croatian, Spanish, French and Romanian students. We talked about the water of Seine, bridges and monuments like The Eiffel Tower or the National Assembly. It was sunny, so it was the perfect weather. We stopped at "Jardin des Tuileries" at 12:30 to eat and then we took the train back to Sartrouville.

It was a really good and enriching experience to speak with foreigner students. We had a really great time and we are willing to do it again !

WebRadio

Last Friday the webradio recorded a special broadcast with all the Erasmus students. They answered questions about their feelings about the week, but also the society in their own country for instance racism, homosexuality and the equality between men and women. It was really interesting to hear all the different opinions on these subjects. We really enjoyed this sharing moment, and everybody laughed a lot. Don't forget to listen to the podcast on the Evariste Website, it will be there soon !

Our week!

The activities in Paris, Sartrouville and Versailles were prepared on Wednesdays afternoon during a lot of hours but not during our class time.

Versailles: there was a strike, so we were disappointed because we worked so hard for nothing. Happily, we could eat "Macarons".

Orsay: a visit of the museum: it was interesting, then the lunch time in the Tuileries Garden : someone  took pictures of ducks in an ornamental lake.

Seine : walk along the riverbanks of the Seine, it was funny but we were a bit late.

Escape Game: first preparation time and the first group did the activities and we took photos. We decided to have a contest so the second group did a better time than the first and the third one did a better time than the first group but not than the second one. Results of contest: first group arrived 3, the second 1st and the third 2nd.

Kahoot workshop : We helped others to find questions but when we wanted to play to the expected game, it crashed because there was too many connections at the same time in the site. So it was funny :) R.I.P Kahoot

The Little party at the end of the week was very nice. We could eat French and international food like "Quiches", "Macarons" and candy. We also could dance to French music.

First impression

I want to start with the plane. It was our first time to travel with the plane. We weren't scared at all. The weather was good and the flight was short. We arrived in Paris, the city we were just dreaming about to visit.

While we were driving to the Sartrouville we felt like in paradise. There were no old roads with people full of hatred. Just a big city with a lot of big buildings, shops, restaurants. Even an outside of the city was beautiful. We met our host families and went "home". Their lifestyle is quite different than ours. Nice house, 2 or 3 cars. Their school lasts the whole day and they have their exams on Saturday. Next morning we were preparing for school. I know, you think, it's "boring" or something. That wasn't a school it was a campus. We couldn't find classrooms or toilets or cafeteria. How large it was. It was even interesting to go around. The school system! So as expected, we know more than they know. Croatian school system is terrible. Old equipment, we are studying something that is out of use in our future job. But, in my first grade, we learned things that they learn in third. Also, we are improving our boat simulator. All money goes there. The "hole without the bottom". And finally the most important thing about this project. Friends!! We met people that came all around Europe. Italians, Spanish, Romanians, and French. All amazing and incredibly talented people in their fields. Some of them are good architects, some are experts in tourism. Don't forget that some of them are amazing captains. In this way, we want to thank everybody. Our friends, students and professors that organized trips, tours, and even games, but especially our hosts. We miss you so much. And we hope to see you all again.

In conclusion, everything is better there and we want to stay there!!

Water Day & Earth Day: The Italians' point of view

This week, our group and others, such as Croatians, Spanish, Romenian, French, had a fantastic experience.

We were hosted by French families, and we made friendship with them; it's a very important thing because that has allowed us to discover  new things about foreign cultures and languages, we were deeply immersed into this new society and school system and made us think about the differences between this country and ours.

We made plenty of activities about water, its pollution, the distribution, and even its chemical proprieties thanks to various experiments in the chemistry lab. We also made some trips near Sartrouville such as Paris, Versailles, La Seine, which are related to the water. Regarding the theme of water in Paris, we visited the Pavillon de l'Eau, full of street art about water, and a lot of history and maps about water and its distribution in all the city. For the theme of water in impressionism, we visited the Musée D'Orsay and saw many paintings about water.

I think that the most important thing is that we socialized and excanged our culture to foreign people thanks to this project.

Hello, we are the girls from Spain. We are called Lucía Zarallo and Lucía Jimenez.

We are going to tell you our night in Paris. First we went from Montesson to Paris by car, when we got there our first stop was at the Eiffel Tower. We continue through the city hall of Paris. We continue through the Notre Dame Cathedral, the Louvre Museum, the Champs Elysees and finally the Arc de Triomphe.

We took photos in all the places and the one that we liked most was the Eiffel Tower because it is the best known of France and it made us look forward to it and for us it is the most beautiful monument.

We have loved our stay in France and we thank the families for behaving so well with us.

Musée d'Orsay

Mercredi 10 Octobre 2018

One week in Sartrouville

I'm going to write my first experience in France, Sartrouville more exactly.
