The Hunger Games is a phenomenal movie based on Suzan Colins' best-selling epic novels realized  in 2012. It's a science-fiction adventure film, the first instalment in the trilogy.

Gary Ross directed the film and chose Jennifer Lawrence for the role of the young lady, Katniss Everdeen. The other main characters, Peeta Mellark, Gale Hawthrone, Haymitch Abernathy and Effie Trinket are played by Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson and Elizabeth Banks. The movie sets in Atlanta, Georgia and takes place in the future ruins of the USA. Let's start with a little approach of the plot.

In a dark future, in the USA' ruins, a game have been created to control people by fear. Twelve young men and twelve young woman are chosen every years to participate to this awful TV show that everyone have no choice but watching it. Only one rule in the arena: survive, don't matter what it cost.

When Katniss Everdeen' sister is called to participate to this game, she is not hesitating only for one second. Katniss decide to take her place, even if she knows how it is dangerous. She is 16 years old but she already met deaths many times. Surviving is her daily life...”

This is really an appreciable adaptation. Many Colin's fans waited pictures to illustrate this wonderful adventure that is this book and I can say that Gary Ross made it very well. I was pleased to see that the story was faithful. All events were related, recreating the fabulous atmosphere of the Hunger Games: this cruel, dready but exciting and revolting experience wit the strongest young lady of this apocalyptic world, Katniss Everdeen. Who was not touch by her courage and her devotion to her little sister ? By her reaction in front of the unfair death of her friend ? This powerfull picture, a beautiful dead girl surrounding by flowers, brought tears to my eyes as well as Suzanne Colin did. All the evocative events was there and this is a really important point.

The plot, yes, but what about the sense of it ? We can notice some others dystopian adaptations like Divergent, a trilogy novels too. I was really disappointed by it because they made a movie for money, a commercial film, not at all in the mood of the author. Quite the opposite, Gary Ross didn't at all made the same mistake. First, we can observe the music. It was composited specialy for the production like The Hanging Tree interpreted by Jennifer Lawrence herself. But the realisator did not abuse of it. We are marqued by silence during harrowing scenes and the breathtaking suspens is really well made ! Again, this element drive a film of good quality. I have nothing to say about the spectacular visual effect and the scenery is an unbelievable illustration of the original work.

Unfortunatly, this movie isn't perfect. I personnaly think that relationship between the characters are a little bit thoughtless. For example, in the novel, I was impressed by the emotional attachment between Rue, a young girl, and Katniss. They were like sisters and I have been disappointing by the transcription. The Hunger Games are also inappropriate for children. It countains some intense violent scenes and it could heart sensibility even if it made a more credible and captivating plot.

Now, we have to talk about the remarkable Jennifer Lawrence's playing.

This young lady, known by no one before this show, came from Kentucky and passed the casting as the most talented person. She representate to her only, all the originality of the story. I was amazed to see her acting so well, a bow in hand, standing against her society, refusing to betray hers. This bad-tempered character who is Katniss Everdeen is complexe and completely different from the actrice but it doesn't matter. Jennifer Lawrence personnified her perfectly. Josh Hutcherson, in the same way, was remarkable to. In fact, I was impressed by all the actors. I would be tempted to say that all playing were fabulous ! I have nothing else to say about the castings that I can not imagine other actors on Colin's characters.

I can conclued by my optimist for this movie. I really enjoyed the books and I am very meticulous about adaptation but I am impressed by actors, scenario, visual effects and scenery. It's a touching, revolting and inspiring film. The apocalyptic world presented is really interesting and not so far from ours with some reflection: a good subject of thinking ! There's a lot of action and people who like this won't be disappointed as amators of science-fiction or dystopia.
