Star wars episode 6

Today, in this movie section, we are going to talk about a major episode of an iconic movie saga : star wars 6 « return of the jedi », released in 1983, co-written by Georges Lucas and Lawrence Kasden and directed by Richard Marquand. This movie is the end of the original trilogy of star wars saga made of episodes 4 and 5 called «a new hope » and « the empire strikes back ». The rebels still resist the empire. Luke Skywalker, who became a jedi knight, tries to save his friend (Han Solo) captured by a gangster (Jabba the Hut). The empire launched the creation of the second death star. This movie is just like fireworks, throughout the whole movie, Luke understands that he needs to fight Darth Vader (his dad) and the emperor in order to deliver the galaxy. Then the story takes in intensity at the end of the movie with a spectacular space fight between the empire and the rebellion. At the same time, Luke is held prisoner by Darth Vader and the emperor. This crescendo in the movie action gives way to a masterful end which makes the spectator both happy and sad. There is definitely a good casting with Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Carrie Fisher(princess Leia) and Harisson Ford (Han Solo). The soundtrack is a masterpiece with gorgeous themes such as « force theme » or « imperial march theme ». the negative point is the special effects. Indeed, they look old over time. Star Wars episode 6 is a nice movie, pleasant to watch and marked, with star wars saga, the history of cinema. A must-see!

Gravity

The movie was released on October, 23th 2013
The film manages to seduce the audience and obtained a good number of awards. Nevertheless, disturbing contrasts are present about its estrangement from reality. I would like to express my opinion about this film because I found it very good. As far as the casting is concerned the actors play very well, the dialogues are very well written. As regards the special effects I find them very well done for the film era but it lacks a part of realism.

The Spacewalker

The Sapcewalker is a Russian film directed by Dimitri Kisseliov released in 2017, and tells the story of Alexei Leonov, the first man who spacewalked.
I watched this film because I wanted to know more about the Russian point of view during the cold war and during the space race. I found this film very realistic and truly interesting because we are used to watching American films with the same point of view and this film shows us the vision of the Russians during this famous space race. Unfortunately, I found this film unentertaining since I thought there could be more action. To conclude this film can compete with some American films but not the greatest ones.

Gravity

It's definitely a good film overall with a stressful atmosphere that puts us in the mood throughout the whole film. The plot is pleasant but relies a little too much on luck.
The story begins with the destruction of the shuttle where the crew was doing a mission, throughout the film we have the point of view of an engineer who is completely left to herself in outer space.

Passengers:

In my opinion, the film Passengers is a very nice film. it has many positive elements, it's very well shot and takes up the theme of space travel to another planet well. Plus, the film is quite realistic in the sense that we could one day, thanks to advanced technology, manage to do this. However I found that at a certain moment, the film was absolutely not realistic like when the main character Jim will have to manually open the reactor and he will protect himself with only a metal "shield" from the fire that will release the latter, he will come out of it without any burns or injuries.

Stowaway

The movie that I wastched is entitled Stowaway, relased in 2021 on Netflix. At the begining, we can see the launch of the rocket, and I felt that it was very interesting. After, the arrival of the fourth passengers was very surprising, and that is cool. But when they have to look for the oxygen outside the rocket, the movie becomes boring. I slept during 20 minutes and after, I came back 20 minutes before because I was sleeping. When we saw the rocket in outer space, the special effects were realistic but to my mind, the storyline was very boring and annoying. My favourite moment was when the movie ended unfortunately.

Star Wars épisode 1 The Phantom Menace

The movie was realeased in 1999 and was written and directed by George Lucas. Its the fourth movie of the saga. I wanted to tell you more about this movie because I realy enjoy this movie a lot. The actors play very well. And cameras are clearly well located during the fight. Indeed, in the movie there is a lot of action. To me, the race scene featuring Anakin Skywalker is wonderful.

Gravity

It seems to me that the movie Gravity starred by Sandra Bullock as Dr.Ryan Stone and George Clooney as Matt Kowalski, directed by Alfonso Cuarón is a great success even a masterpiece. As usual, Alfonso Cuaron did a great job. Besides, the perspective of the movie is so realistic that viewers come to appreciate it. When the shuttle was destroyed, Matt Kowalski was hanging from a rope that Dr. Ryan Stone was holding. Due to the lack of oxygen, they are both not stable. Therefore, Matt Kowalski decides to break the rope. At the end of the film, it gets really worrying because Dr. Ryan Stone returns alone on Earth without Matt Kowalski who is stuck in space without oxygen, which means that he died. Nevertheless, he appears as a hallucination. He comforts Dr.Ryan Stone, and helps her to return to Earth. Overall this science fiction movie has a positive aspect.

The Martian

An enormous disappointment in terms of expectations and media background, not that it’s bad, it’s pretty well done and there are gorgeous images (3D of Mas in particular). However, it’s at the level of the storyline that it fails, everything is predictable, the narrative draws its inspiration from the worst documentaries, namely we explain what we will do or what will happen and then we show it. The first part thus has a side that quickly becomes annoying and sometimes inconsistent. There is no tension, Matt Damon without being bad is nothing great. It’s full of behavioral improbabilities, and it collects the worst clichés. Only the last quarter of an hour wakes us up, but only by the beauty of the plans, because once again, the suspense is nothing. In addition to the fact that the movie is pretty soporific I don’t know if it’s because I watched it relatively late or not. Yes I'm a bitter.
I advise you more Kingdom of heaven.

Star Wars : Rogue One

This prequel of Star Wars, part of the series "A Star Wars Story", written by Chris Weitz and Tony Gilroy, is chronogically placed beetween Star Wars 3 and Star Wars 4.
It is one of the best opus of the entire saga for multiples reasons :
Firstly, the story is happening in the top-tier moment of Star Wars, in the short time wich separates the death of Anakin from the rebirth of Darth Vader, and a little before the story of Luke Skywalker, wich will follow during 3 movies.
Secondly, the screenwriters really dedicated themselves into imagining and creating new stormtroopers, villains, spaceships, a big variety of weapons and even an another type of rebellion. (We will not talk about the poverty of Star Wars 7, 8, and 9 on this point). Therefore, the storyline of this cinematic masterpiece is brilliant and the ending sublimates it, especially thanks to the appearance of Darth Vader in such a short time, wich hypes the fans and leaves a feeling of insufficiency to such an extent that everybody wants to see the rest of the saga of Georges Lucas after finishing Stars Wars ; Rogue One.

2001: A Space Odyssey

This film released in 1968, directed by Stanley Kubrick, is a true masterpiece, it marked the world of cinema with its incredible special effects for the time.
In this movie, we can observe a Stanley Kubrick very ahead of its time with the vision that man would have already conquered space in 2001. It also highlights huge technological advances such as artificial intelligence which takes power.
However, this film remains very slow with scenes that sometimes last for an eternity and the film takes a long time to start. Moreover this film remains very complicated with a rather vague ending. Despite the slowness and complexity of this film, I still enjoyed watching this film. Nevertheless, I only recommend this film to cinema fans because it can seem boring to those who don't really appreciate cinema. I do think this film remains a classic for the world of cinema.

Interstellar

Interstellar is a movie of science fiction about space which deal with a man named cooper, a space pilot, who comes back in space to find a way to save the humanity. Especially because the earth isn't longer livable.
I think that interstellar is a movie full of emotion. There are in this movie many interesting perspectives, especially because the characters are well-writen and the story is touching. For example, Murphy, the daughter of the main character, is at first really furious when her dad leaves the house and doesn't know when he will be back. But, finally she will get older and regret not being more understanding the previous time. An another point not to miss is that the story is well done. All the things have a link with other things, but sometimes it's a little hard to understand. There is so much information, maybe too much... that's why the movie has many objectives like the fact that we can't deny that the earth is slowly dying, or also the fact that family is important. These are good themes to tackle, and very interesting ones, but they are sometimes poorly expressed in view of the amount of information present in the movie. However, Interstallar remains an unavoidable space film which definitely makes the youngest to the oldest viewers dream.

Stowaway

First of all, I chose to watch « stowaway», a 2021 science fiction drama film directed by Joe Penna. I really liked the plot and that’s why I chose it. This movie is about a stowaway discovered in a spacecraft bound for the planet Mars. The crew is too far from the Earth to turn around. The problem is that there is not enough supplies and not enough oxygen for 4 passengers.
This movie is really interesting, it makes you learn a lot of things about the progress of a space mission and the actors’ performance is really nice. Despite the fact that, the film contains a lot of inconsistencies and you get the feeling that it stops in the middle of the plot. To my mind, the end of the movie is really disappointing. Otherwise I still enjoyed it.

Passengers

The film Passengers is a moving film which mixes at the same time love and space. We come across all emotions at once without having enough time to recover. The storyline is perfectly performed and we don’t have time to get bored. Moreover the ending music is amazing.
