In New Zealand, a dentist removed ( = extracted) all of an 18-month-old's teeth because of tooth decay. His teeth were damaged by sugary drinks like Coke or Pepsi!
This boy will wait 4 years to have new teeth. He will have problems socialising ( = making friends), he will have problems eating, he will have problems speaking...
Two associations suggest solutions to help people have less sugar : first, they suggest a twenty per cent (20%) tax on sugary drinks so people will buy less fizzy drinks. Second, they suggest a new label on packaging so the quantity of sugar will be clearer, for example "600ml of soda = 16 teaspoons of sugar". They hope it will help people to limit sugar in their drinks.
