In January, many British people take resolutions for the New Year: they are going to go to the gym, they want to go on a diet... But in Bristol, people and TV Chef Jamie Oliver want to reduce sugar consumption...
In Bristol, more than 20,000 people have diabetes. One in four (=1/4) children aged 5 years old have tooth decay, a third (=1/3) of children aged 10 are overweight... Bristolians have a sweet tooth and Jamie Oliver wants to help them.
He is proposing different solutions in the city to help people in their battle against sugar:
- cafes in Bristol will add a 10p (=pence) tax to a can of fizzy drink
+
- the University canteen will offer more water or low sugar drinks
- a sports and leisure centre will install a healthy vending machine
Let's hope it will help Bristolians to get healthier habits!
