Sypnosis:

The film is set in a small American town of Woodsboro who seems very quiet and ordinary but this isn't the case anymore when a killer spread fear and terror, inspired by the horror films of the 70s and 80s.

Casey Becker, a beautiful teenager, is alone in her family's home. She's about to watch a horror film but the phone rings. On the phone, a mysterious person bullies and strength her to play a terrific game: if she responds poorly to his questions about horror movies, he will kill her boyfriend...When Sidney Prescott herself becomes a target of the slasher of Woodsboro, she does not know who to trust, even his entourage. However, as with all good scary movies, everyone is a suspect. Who will be the next victim? Who is behind the mask of the slasher? The investigation begins...

Positive things: Scream is definitely the 90s's slasher movie who updates the genre of horror movie to my mind.

First with the mask of the slasher called "Ghostface" who became a classic from horror movie and of course, it reminds us “Halloween” released in 1978 who is the best thriller movie for me. Then he sparked the revival of horror movies like “I Know What You Did Last Summer” released in 1997, “Halloween H2O” released in 1998 or without forgotten the first parody of the movie itself “Scary Movie” released in 2000. After, we can see the rhythm of the movie accelerate and the music is more intense when there is a murder or something scary, so the viewers are more terrified and the suspense is filled until the end. There are a lot of jump-scares and we love it! Finally his pilot is original, even if it talks about a killer with a mask who kills students like all of today's horror films but the way Wes Craven buries the cliché of the horror movies of our generation is pretty amazing; indeed his plot talks about how to survive in a horror movie who eventually becomes real, the characters know the horror clichés like the girl who try to escape the killer by the stairs of his house instead of running away the house or the typical person who says "I'll be right back" who is always the cliché sentence: he will never coming back.

Negative things: For me there is no negative point about this movie, except the fact that there aren’t more of victims and more of scary atmosphere. But if you don't appreciate blood, excessive violence or just horror movies: this isn't for you (or a little bit).

Characterization:  First of all, let's talk about the main character, Sidney Prescott played by the beautiful Neve Campbell. As for me Sid' is an innocent young girl and weakened by the murder of her mother a year ago: the character become touching and strong throughout the film. It seems to me that she's the strongest woman of the horror films. Her character reminds us Julie from “I Know What You Did Last Summer” played by Jennifer Love Hewitt: a constant about horror movie of the 90s.

Then there are many second endearing roles that are all unique.

Before anything else, there is Gale Weathers played by the amazing Courtney Cox, mostly known for her role in the famous TV show "Friends" as Monica. Gale is a rude and hard-working woman who is always ready for a scoop. I would be tempted to say that Gale is my favorite character of the Screm's Trilogy.

There is Dwight Riley played by David Arquette, a silly policeman but still endearing who's the brother of Sidney's best friend, Tatum Riley.

Speaking of Tatum, she's the total opposite of Sidney, Tatum is not very smart but she's still a funny character and by the way, she's played by Rose McGowan who is mostly known for her role in "Charmed" as Paige.

In any horror movies that respect itself, there is the mysterious boyfriend (here it's Sidney's boyfriend) like Billy Loomis played by Skeet Ulrich. Billy seems to be a good guy but as for me he's too weird and mysterious for Sidney, but they seem very cute together (some times).

After, there is Stuart Macher played by Matthew Lillard, who is insensitive, and an eccentric guy because he's like a fanatic of horror movies: it's a kind of a little creepy. Stuart is Billy Loomis's best friend and Tatum Riley's boyfriend.

Then, there is Randy Meeks played by Jamie Kenney. I personally think that he's the one of my favorite character in this movie with Gale of course because Randy is an hilarious geek of horror movies (not like Stuart), so it seems to that he's the character who symbolizes perfectly the topic of Scream: he knows "everything" about how to survive in a horror movies, he knows his classics and we can be related to him more easily. His personality seems to be similar to mine but a lesser degree even so.

Finally, the most known in Scream is the slasher! I couln't talk about all the characters without mention his name. The Ghostface is one the most scariest wicked characters without in horror movies of our last generation with his disguise who is simple but so scary at the same time and of course his quotes who are symbolic in the history of horror film. We can forget the famous sentence of Scream who is "Whats your favorite scary movies?". I personally think that I'm not the only who will not want to hear this sentence on the phone.

To my mind, the actors played them very well, Neve Campbell represents very good Sidney's personality, and then the viewers are able to be related to her character. But sometimes, it's difficult to be related to the characters when they die quickly, something typical in horror movies.

Finals comments: I was pleased to see that horror movie because Scream is a classic's horror film. First, this movie has been compared to “Halloween” or “A Nightmare on Elm Street” who are the most scariest movie that I know.

Indeed, Wes Craven has given a new shot blast about horror movies with the Ghostface and he uses the clichés as references: it has a funny side, thanks to him! If you didn’t saw Scream, then you're not a cinema lover.

My rating for this film is ***/5 because even if I watched this movie many times, it's not the scariest movies that I've seen in my life.
