Kick-Ass is a film based on the homonym comic series. It tells us the story of Dave Lizewski. He was a
typical student unnoticed at school always with his friends Marty and Todd. He was also a huge fan of comics. That is why one day despite the fact that he was absolutely normal
and he had no special ability, he decided to become a super hero and bring law.
He tries once but he fails and is taken to hospital. He doesn't give up and try
again. And he did right.
Indeed, his second attempt was successful. He has saved a someone from being beaten up by thugs. This deed was filmed by a witness and was posted later on the Internet. This video trended worldwide and made Kick-Ass known from everyone. He earned not only success but also troubles. As a matter of fact, Frank D'aminco the biggest crime-boss of New York City thought that Kick-Ass was involved in his business problems. This was the beginning of an eventful life.
For me, this film is great in these points : first of all, I was pleased to see a mixture of action and comedy. In effect, the stunts and the special effects commingled with the the stupidity of Marty and Todd had me on the edge of my seat. Secondly, the atmosphere of the film. The film begins with a total comic mood with the presentation Dave's life. Then, the film increasingly turns more "serious". On top of that there is some little things that make you enjoy the film much more. Like the wonderful soundtrack which a phenomenal momentum to the film. However, Kick-Ass has some bad points. One on the hand, the plot of the film is unoriginal. The story of a man with allies who saves people is déjà-vu all over again. Therefore, the sucesss of Kick-Ass is based on the characterization. On the other hand, this film isn't adequate to everyone. Indeed, Kick-Ass targets a precised age range : teenagers. You couldn't watch it with yur 50-year-old mom or your 6-year-old sister.
To my mind, every character of this film is interesting. For exemple, Big Daddy known as Damon McCready is convicted of a crime he didn't comitted. When he went out he tried to make up for lost time with her daughter that is why he decides to become a super hero. By contrast, his daughter Mindy known as Hit Girl with her severity and the way she treat the main character made me hate her a bit. Finally, I would be temped to say that the most interesting character is Frank D'aminco. He is a antagonist. Thus he has to raise our hate. But, I personally think that he has some charism hat make me like him a bit.
In conclusion, I would strongly recommend to watch this film. If you want to laugh or to see some action you will get your money worth. Even if you are 50 years old, try it anyway. You never know. To finish, I would give Kick-Ass a 5-star rating.
