Judo is a combat sport created in 1882 by Jigoro Kano (1860-1938) in Japan.
The rules are : you are with an opponent on a " Tatami " (rug floor), you must make him fall back on the floor and you have to immobilize him like this during 10 seconds. If you achieve this, you have one point.
  But you can't use punchs, there are many holds and you have to use them to win. There are different grades. Indeed, persons who begin have the white belt, one year later the white and yellow after the yellow, the yellow and orange, the orange, the orange and green, the green, the green and blue, the blue, the brown and finally, the black when you are 18.
Judo is based on some values : politeness, courage, sincerity, honour, self control, friendship, modesty and respect.
   Even if Judo is fairplay, it's a combat sport. Consequently, it's violent.
