Ice Hokey

Here are the rules of Ice Hokey :

Object of the Game

  • The objective of the game is to score more goals than the opposite team.

The Teams

  • Each team has six players on the ice, one goal tender and five "skaters".
  • The five skaters have assigned positions: three forwards and two defensemen.
  • Regardless of assigned positions, all players except the goaltender can go anywhere they want on the ice.
  • The goaltender cannot cross the center red line that divides the rink into two halves.

I've selected those pictures because they represent really well the speed and the violence that this sport implies.

Petanque !

Here is a beautiful video about Petanque...         ... Enjoy it !!

Translation of the video :

Pétanque is a game like Bocce, in America. It is practised by 17 million players in France. Here is a wonderful video about this French game...

Julien : Hello, we'll explain to you the rules of Petanque...
Benjamin : Petanque's aim is to put as many boules as possible near the jack ("cochonnet"...)
Xavier : The game is in 13 points. Each player has 3 boules...

Benjamin : Let's go !
Xavier (to Julien) : Ah ! That's bad, Jean-Pierre !
Xavier (to Benjamin) : Ah ! That's well done !
Benjamin : I take the boule...
Xavier : Let's go !
Benjamin : Be careful, I'm going to "pointer" !
Xavier : Come on !
Xavier (to Benjamin) : Whaou ! That's good ! That's good !
Julien : Ah ! I wanted to "tirer", it's not good !
Xavier : Yeah ! That's pretty bad !
Julien : This time, I "pointe", it would be better !
Xavier : Go on !
Xavier (to Julien) : Hey ! Benjamin "te mets la Fanny" !
Xavier : That's a good "nature ball", Benjamin.
Julien (to Benjamin) : Yeah, you won !
Xavier : That's good for Benjamin !

Then, each player introduces himself.

Then, the making-of !

The rest is in English.
