The Belgian education system
In Belgium, government schools are free for everyone.
School is oblige until 16 years
There are 4 stages of education : Preschool education, Primary education,
Secondary education and finally Higher education. But we will focus only
on Secondary education. It’s start at 12 and end at 18 years. It’s composed
of 3 cycle, and each cycle is constitute of 2 years. Each year, scholars have
2 exam really important. For that school prepare several week of
preparation for them. Students can go to the next level only if at the end of
the cycle they have a diploma. Pupils have their diploma after a continuous
examination. If somehow you don’t get this, you have to restart the last
year of your cycle. When you finish your third year, you have to chose a
type of education between 4. General, technical, vocational and art.
However you chose general ,technical or art, you are obliged to follow
some lessons like maths , geography etc …
Depending on the region, language can change. So scholar can speak
french, German ant dutch.
They are noted in percentage.
The Belgians have about 7h 30 of school per day. French have like 8
hours per day. Each year, scholars have 2 exam really important. For that
school prepare several week of preparation for them. In a class the amount
of pupils varied to 24 at 29. Students can chose between a variety of
activities, like art, music, cinema, or even learning a new language.
