Ma's review

The Missing Picture is a film directed by Rithy Panh. It's about the period when the Khmer Rouge governed Cambodia and how Rithy Panh experienced it. This film is actually autobiographical, because Rithy Panh shows how he lived under the communist government. He denounces the cambodian genocide, which is not widely aknowledged or blamed enough around the world. The movie is special because most of the scenes feature immobile clay figurines (while other scenes are footage from real  life). Also, a voice-over can be heard: it represents Rithy Panh, even if it's not his own voice.

Personally, I found The missing picture very interesting. I think this native Cambodian who is now French was right to make this film. I knew that communism "killed" many people in Asia, but I didn't know that a genocide (even though it isn't aknowledged as one) actually took place in Cambodia, before I saw this film (and talked about it), so I think it's a good thing to have made it. I also find it moving.
