The invisible earth

A review about the novel titled « La terre invisible » by a student named Adel. The novel was unfortunately severely criticized by one and all.

The presentation

La terre invisible” is the 24th novel written by Hubert Mingarelli. The novel was published the 15th of august 2019, by the publishing house Buchet/Chastel. In the novel, the war theme will be evoked, more precisely the causes of the damage generated by the war, on a specific population.

The story is about a photographer who is consistently traveling around Germany, in 1945, knowing that Germany lost WW2. During the trip the photographer will meet different characters and he will hold a specific interest in asking all types of families to pose in-front of their house door.

While reading the novel, we will come to understand why he did all of this.

Different opinions within the same class

From now on, we are going to give our point of view on this novel, and we are going to explain why, despite the fact that we did not love nor like the book, some people could appreciate the story-line of the book.

Firstly, the unsatisfying fact in the book, is that the answers to our questions are not precise and there aren’t many details. It is surely to let the imagination of the reader run its course, which is actually a frustrating point for readers that just want a detailed story-line. Moreover, the landscapes described by the author, during the trip, are dull and sad.

But however, the choice taken by the author of often describing the landscapes that the main character meets can be perceived as a great idea, because it is a logical choice for the occupation of the main character.

Finally, the positive point about the novel, in my point of view, is that contrary to other books addressing the war subject, this one puts forward the people who went through the war.
